Since its founding in 2013, The Rising School continues to work hard to establish and maintain a record of academic excellence. From the results of this year’s AIMS Science test, it appears that the efforts of The Rising School’s students and faculty over this past academic year have paid off.
For 2015, The Rising School has earned an excellent 77% passing rate on the AIMS Science Test, which places it above many other local schools and the Arizona state average.
To put this achievement into perspective, here are the 2014 rankings of some other local charter schools, as well as Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) schools:
For those who don’t know, the Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) is a standardized test administered at 4th grade, 8th grade, and high school levels. Achieving high AIMS test scores increases students’ access to college scholarships. And until recently, the AIMS test was a graduation requirement for Arizona public high school students.
Behind our students’ success are a number of factors that distinguish The Rising School from other Tucson-area schools. These include our challenging course curriculum, which is based upon Arizona’s College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) and corresponding assessments. Student achievement is also attributable in no small part to our outstanding teaching staff, which is both experienced and knowledgeable in cutting-edge teaching methodology.
We also foster a safe, orderly, and accepting environment to make learning more appealing and enjoyable for students. But The Rising School also focuses on student development beyond the content of our classes – another top priority is cultivating a strong sense of civic duty and an awareness for the importance of a strong community. Consequently, we integrate family and community involvement into students’ development process at every possible juncture.
But our commitment to rigorous standards would be unimportant if we didn’t also provide students with a means of achieving them. That’s why all students receive ample personal attention and opportunities to receive extra help from our faculty. Both academically and personally, this keeps students on the right track from the start and enables us to remedy any issues early on.
As our AIMS Science Test scores indicate, the Rising School is dedicated to a tuition-free education that prepares students for a lifetime of career success and personal fulfillment. And last but certainly not least: congratulations to our 8th grade students and faculty on a job well done!
